An entrepreneur in the field of Psychiatry & Mental Health, founding president of the Indian Association of Private Psychiatry, author of ‘The Unsafe Asylum: Stories of Partition & Madness’ and have written first ever Mental Health Policy for Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
In addition, Dr Kala has been a force behind many agencies that have been serving in this field. These include the Punjab & Chandigarh Psychiatric Society & Indian Psychiatric Society- North Zone (Ex-president), the Indian Association of Private Psychiatry (Founder Ex-president) and the Indo-Pak Punjab Psychiatric Society (President).
His focus is always to educate people about mental health and mental illness, focusing to eradicate stigma, labels and prejudice. He believes to build a society where mental wellness is the institution of a healthy community.
